Facilities and Property Manager (Full-Time Position)

POSITION: Facilities and Property Manager


The Toronto Christian Community Church is a dynamic tri-congregational (Cantonese, English, and Mandarin) church with a 40+ year history with a combined Sunday morning worship attendance of over 1200. The English congregation is a predominantly 1st-2nd generation Canadian-Asian background congregation of ~300. The vision for the TCCC English congregation is to be a Christ-Centred, Community of Compassion. TCCC owns and operates 105 Gibson Centre as an outreach and compassionate arm of the church into the community. TCCC is a member church of the Association of Christian Evangelical Ministries.


The Facilities and Property Manager is responsible for property management, facility management, office and hardware systems supporting the church. Candidates for the position will have demonstrated strong performance in management of building assets, preferably with experience and knowledge in the not-for-profit/charitable sector. The successful candidate will make analysis and recommendation on the ongoing physical needs of the church, such as buildings, grounds, and equipment, ensuring they are properly maintained, secure, meeting legal and Health & Safety requirements, and with a focus on fostering relationships with pastoral staff and the general management (GM) committee.


The position reports to the church's Administrative Pastor.


Primary Responsibilities


1. Property Management

  • Manage the maintenance and upkeep of church facilities, including building repairs and improvements, by overseeing the regular maintenance of building systems and working closely with GM committee on overall property maintenance and improvement matters
  • Manage internal capital projects, and collaborate with external contractors and vendors for facility-related projects, obtaining quotes, writing tender proposals and supervising their work
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and government regulatory requirements on building/facility provisions, and implement emergency preparedness plans
  • Work with ministry leaders to provide necessary support to staff and ministry volunteers on the use of office, church equipment, and church facilities, providing training where necessary
  • Maintain adequate levels of property insurance and process any claims or information requirements


2. Facilities Management

  • Manage facilities usage, event coordination, and rentals between internal and external needs
  • Manage church parking facilities and implement efficient parking management systems and policies
  • Set workplace health & safety policy and guidelines, emergency preparedness procedures, and ensure adherence to them
  • Supervise the building custodians for in-house minor repairs and janitorial contracts for general cleanliness and disinfection as required and advised by internal health team and external governing bodies


3. Office and Hardware Systems Management

  • Procure office and ministry supplies, equipment, and maintenance needs, including service and utility contracts
  • Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor, Senior Pastor, or GM committee


Qualifications and Skills

  • Property management certificate or equivalent 
  • Strong consensus builder and able to collaborate with staff, church deacons and diverse working groups in efforts that produce specific deliverables and demonstrates outcomes
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and remain calm, being reasonably minded
  • Excellent analytical ability, problem-solving and conflict management skills, detailed orientated with the ability to organize and prioritize to achieve the overall goals
  • Subscribe to ACEM's tenets of faith, constitutions of TCCC, and seriously consider joining regular membership at TCCC within 6 months of employment
  • Ability to meet aggressive deadlines and handle multiple priorities at the same time
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting
  • Cantonese and Mandarin speaking ability is an asset
